This movie takes place in a small town isolated on an Island off Maine. And as the title suggest, it is hit by the worse storm ever. Snow so thick it is hard to see through and wind so strong that the waves of the ocean start to claim buildings. This alone would make for an exciting adventure movie. But of course King gives us more. A truly supernatural villain comes to town and knows everyone secrets. He starts to kill them off and keeps asking to be given `what he wants." As we watch the movie we are trying to figure out what he wants...and also wondering why the villagers do not give it to them.
The movie is suspenseful. And the acting is great. Everyone in this movie acts well, including the children. Of course the best is ... Read More:

Good things happen to good people. Well, not on Little Tall Island they don’t. And that’s exactly what makes this Stephen King story such a departure from the average chiller- the injustice and horror of every second that makes up this TV movie and it’s a great adaptation too. Of this story you could more accurately say that a close community and its’ average inhabitants have hell incarnate (Andre Linoge, brilliantly and disturbingly brought to life by Colm Feore) visited upon them, as the storm of the title rolls in from the mainland to shroud them and their misfortunes from the world. For me though this is a 4 star DVD because the picture quality hasn’t been greatly improved upon, the extras are very limited and also because this ... Read More:

When I received this DVD as a Christmas gift, I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting. A few weeks later and I've finally managed to get round to watching it and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised!
First off, this DVD is a massive 256 mins long, so best to watch it in several parts. It's a double sided disc, so I ended up watching one side at a time. By the end of the first side, I just couldn't wait to get on with the second part of the story.
The story is set on an island, seperated from the mainland of an American city. There are around 400 inhabitants on the island and as you can imagine, everybody knows everybody and everybody knows everybody elses business. News of a breaking storm surfaces, one of ... Read More:

Why is this miniseries/film not more readily available? Steven King once again shows us what a storytelling master he really is. For all the SK fans out there, this is totally unmissable and I wish I had the DVD amongst my collection. As the story unveils you'll find you wont move off your seat for the full six hours. You wont be disappointed.

This is excellent. Stephen King adaptations have been a bit of a hit or a miss over the years, this is definitely a hit.
Tim Daly plays the local sheriff who arrests a stranger in town who kills a local old dear. When locked up in the town jail he says if they give him what he wants, he'll go away. He causes mayhem in the small local island community and what he wants is revealed at the end so I won't spoil it for you, suffice to say, it's a great ending.
This is a very atmospheric drama. The storm scenes and effects are excellent and the acting is second to none, Jeffrey De Munn as the town manager and Tim Daly as local good guy Mike the Sheriff are outstanding. However, some of the New England accents are a bit ... Read More:
