 Rating:  - The Freddie you know.... plus some!I loved this book. It was quite cleverly written and very informative. As a massive fan, a lot of the quotes and stories I had read or heard before, either via the web, documentaries or similar Queen books. What's good about this book is it let's you into what Freddie thought about individual songs and albums, and to an extent the rest of the group... although mostly in a positive sense. It also mentions his celebrity friends like Bowie, Rod Stewart and Elton, and what he thought about other acts which either grew up with Queen or newer acts which he liked or disliked. It does jump back and fourth, but they have tried writing each chapter in a way that follows a realistic timeline to when he said a particular quote (not always accurate though). ... These books are good but there's nothing better than hearing words direct from the person that the book is actually about. And this is what this book is all about. I love it because it feels like he is speaking to the reader. Freddie was a very private man and rarely did interviews but this book takes the interviews he did and notes down the quotes he said. The quotes range from hilarious to sad, happy to extravagant, and many more. You know how he was feeling at each stage of his short lived life and the showman which lived inside him explodes onto the pages of this book. Believe me you will be repeating the quotes in this book to your friends and family. A great ... Read More: Rating:  - It's fake compilationUnfortunaly, It's not Freddie Mercury own words because it's only compilation from sentensees and words and quotes, teared from diferent interviews an contests without any sense and reason. Nothing links about -what quote? What interview? Where and why Freddie said that? No one really audio or video interviews - only from magasines and newspapers. It's compilation also includes quotes from interviews that was officially disproved and denied Freddie himself as lie and fake like quote from fake Sun interview 1984. It's not "Freddie himself" it's bad manipulation - Freddie in this book can say not that he really said but what the autors who compiled this book wanted from him to say. But this book is more better than other dirty "close friends memoirs" ... Read More: Rating: - The MatronThis is an amazing book, its like hearing Frddie speak, its beautifully put together with some lovely photographs. I love the cover design and it was a pleasure to read. Thank-you for compiling this tribute to a great man. Rating: - I really wanted to like it, but..I find that the book's style of grouping similar thoughts together on one subject is redundant. There will be one paragraph with Freddie coyly saying how he could use his stage powers for evil rather than good followed by another paragraph where he says the exact same thing in different words. It just taxes me as a reader, feeling like I'm having to read everything multiple times. This major flaw caused me to lose interest in the book constantly, which is the one thing you never want to happen with a book. It needed to be edited better. On the plus side, there are numerous excellent photographs included and it's a well-made book. But on a side note, Amazon.co.uk has a knack for sending me stuff with dented corners and scrunched paper ... Read More: |
