 Rating: - ExcellentExtremely soulful.....Garnett Mimms has an amazing range. Slower tempo than Jackie Wilson, more soulful than Jerry Butler, smoother than Otis Redding - if that helps describe him ! Rating: - A truly superb album by an all but forgotten artist.I find it all but impossible to critisise this work in any way. The melodies and the suberb vocals on classics like Jerry Butler;s For your precious love are outstanding. It would also be very special to be able to buy a live recording made during a european tour in 1967 at the university of sussex being accompanied by a Scottish soul band called the senate. This recording, long since deleted, and to my knowledge not reissued is a work of outstanding quality in all departments and is a must for anyone who appreciates the criminally unheard talent of this great singer. |
