 Rating:  - File under cult artistIf you have never heard of John Trudell,he acted in the film "Thunderheart"Trudell is highly rated by Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne has produced for him.The music is rock mixed with native American drums and voice and at the front of the mix is Trudell's wonderful poetry,I read somewhere if you are looking for a comparison,think Patti Smith.Jessie ed Davis makes a guest appearance on guitar on this album Trudell won't become a well known artist,but check him out ,he's really is brilliant! Rating:  - Poetry for those with no voiceIf Hip-Hop came from native americans, then this is what I think it would sound like. A dub voice of unique form, and a strong idea drives almost all the songs. Using mixes of native sounds and those from electric bands, an unusual style is developed where the words are as important as the sound. This is music with meaning, and not day-glo pop. |
