 Rating: - TOTALLY ESSENTIAL!! the greatest white blues guitar everRoy Buchanan is quite simply the greatest electric white blues guitarist. Technically awesome, but with soul to spare. He succumbed to drink and drugs and his studio efforts can be patchy ( my advice is stick to the compilations & live albums after his first two studio efforts) but this is the exception, and by far his best studio effort. Recorded during a short tee total period in 1985 for the chicago blues company Alligator records this was nominated for a grammy and deservedly so. It starts off with a Bach Fugue played on a telecaster and just gets better and better. Think Stevie Ray Vaughan with 4 arms, 2 brains and an extra 10,000 volts in him. Killer Blues that have never been matched since his untimely death in 1988. |
