 Rating: - Sweet Warm Mama BluesAah, but I do love her! She's my beloved black fairy-godmother and my First Lady of the Blues! This CD has a very good selection of tracks - no duds at all - and is a very good sample of the great woman's work. Her magnificent voice, in all its warmest, richest, most emotional glory, is evident throughout, and she is accompanied by a first-rate band. An ex-girlfriend had this on cassette and many a great evening was spent drinking red wine and grooving to Mama Koko! I've subsequently purchased it on CD - I may have parted from Eve but I could NEVER be parted from Koko! If you've yet to discover this marvellous, warm-hearted woman, with a great blues voice, then this CD would be a perfect introduction. ... Read More: |
