The best part of this collection is the rare, previously unavailable tracks. Never mind that buying this item means acquiring songs one already has; it is the the above mentioned rare stuff that is worth the price of admission. Disc 4, Track 8, Medley, Pick a Bale of Cotton, On Top of Old Smokey, and Midnight Special are interesting. Whoever heard of ABBA singing a CCR song? And Track 11 on the same disc, ABBA Undeleted, in which they're "jamming" is a lot of fun, because it is so informal and spontaneous.
Now, if only Agnetha Faltskog's early career German language recordings would once again be available...

This set was supposedly a limited edition when released in 1994, but 13 years later is still readily available.
In 1994, all the b-sides and rare tracks remained unreleased on CD. This set changed all that, and made it an essential purchase. It has now been made virtually redundant by the more comprehensive "The Complete Studio Recordings" released in 2005. Also, since 1994, most of the b-sides have been added to the original studio albums as bonus tracks.
However, for those wanting more than "Abba Gold" or even "The Definitive Collection", this set is perfect. It includes all the singles, nearly all the b-sides, some classic album tracks and a disc of rarities.
One track on here, the live versions of ... Read More:

Here you get all of Abba's classic hits in one outstanding package, together with a selection of album tracks, B-sides and rarities. Famous songs dominate the first three CD's including Waterloo, SOS, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing queen, Money money money, Knowing me knowing you, Name of the game, Take a chance on me, Summer night city, Chiquitita, Does your mother know, Voulez-vous, Angel eyes, Gimmie gimmie gimmie, I have a dream. Winner takes it all, Super trouper, Lay all your love on me and One of us. Of course, these songs are generally available on other compilations but the advantage of this set is that you get all the minor hits and other important recordings as well as all the big hits. Honey honey was a hit for Abba in some countries ... Read More:

Little known in 1972, ABBA released five singles before reaching International stardom. It all culminated in 1982 with more records sales then the Beatles. This 4-CD, 66 song Box Set is only for the true ABBA collector. Benny and Bjorn seem superhuman with their innate ability to write songs and perform a variety of instruments beautifully. Agnetha and Frida pull their own with vocal mixes and solos that defy most singers abilities. Al the songs are here and then some. Only the last disc seems a tad frivilous with a variety of mixes and little know versions of previously released songs. But who can blame them? It all seems like yesterday.

Who would have thought just under 30 years ago that a quartet from Scandanavia could dominate pop culture in the decade to follow (via the much-ridiculed Eurovision Song Contest) and leave a legacy of some of the greatest pop songs ever? I suppose the same sort of folks who laughed at the idea of 4 Scousers becoming bigger than Elvis 10 years earlier!
This package has probably the most played CDs in our house (so much that certain tracks are now sticking) and, unlike some who have reviewed this set before now, we aren't die hards but we sure love this box. The reason for its continual use is simple: bloody great pop music arranged & performed beautifully with a quality that hasn't dimmed in the years since we first heard them (yes, ... Read More:
