The carefully chosen line-up of Jack DeJohnette, John Pattitucci, Michael Brecker, Don Alias, David Sanborn and Gil Goldstein forms a strong basis for a collection of Stern's own compositions, interspersed by a few standards. Mike Stern's proficiancy in the creation of inspired jazz tunes of his own is firmly exemplified during both up-beat titles such as "Hook Up" and "One Liners", but also through his melancholic and subdued playing during the ballad "Rooms". However, the real surprise of the record is left until near the end, as Stern launches straight into a solo that weaves seamlessly through the both harmonically and technically ...
