This has some great artists playing Hendrix covers, and while in some cases they just remind you of how great Jimi was, some are still astoundingly good, most notably Buddy Guy.
If you don't have much Hendrix I'd buy one of his CDs, but if you do and you want another take on some of the great man's work, this has to be worth getting.

The impressive array of musicians on this tribute album deliver the goods, although some interpretations are a bit bizarre, like Nigel Kennedy's violin dance on Fire. Robert Smith and The Cure's synth-driven version of Purple Haze is another strange one. These two tracks are certainly innovative but there's nothing of the master guitarist's spirit in them.
I Don't Live Today by Band of Gypsys, Paul Rodgers and Slash sound very authentic, and Chrissie Hynde's rendition of (Axis) Bold As Love is spectacular. I also like Eric Clapton's powerful interpretation of Stone Free. Another highlight is Third Stone From The Sun by Pat Metheny, an enjoyable jazz-funk take on the classic.
