Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: Bob Seger has racked up a lot of worthy tracks over the years, but it took until 1994 for a greatest hits package to appear. Voilà. The bad news: We're missing an awful lot of songs here. Night Moves is Seger's crit-pick album, and a great place to start if you don't have any Seger at all. Next in the rankings is Stranger in Town. Otherwise, his highs are pretty scattered, which would make any best-of package a worthy investment. But if you want to get comprehensive, "Rock & Roll Never Forgets", "Fire Down Below", "Horizontal Bop", "Her Strut", "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight", and "Katmandu" aren't on this CD--and you'll have to go to the original albums to secure them. --Gavin McNett

Great driving music from a band somewhat under appreciated in the UK. Buy it for Hollywood Nights if nothing else. Classic 70's/80's rock and almost peerless.

...How far off, I sat and wondered... Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves?
As a child of the 60s already feeling out of place in the late 70s, those lines pierced me to the heart. How many nights as a teenager full of angst did I listen to the sound of thunder and count off the seconds trying to determine when the storm would arrive? Because, of course, when the rain would come, I could sleep like a child again.
Yeah, Bob Seger grabbed me when that song came out in 1976 and I've been a fan ever since. You could even say that his songs are cliches of my life: Like a Rock, We've Got Tonight, Still the Same, Against the Wind, Rock and Roll Never Forgets and so on.

I have this thing for American mainstream country come light rock and Bob Seger is in my humble opinion one of the most underated performers in the last 30 years. He writes and performs songs of total quality in every aspect.
It is a good idea to get into Bob Seger via the greatest hits album and it will give you a wider view of the capabilities of the man. Mainstreet, weve got tonight, and like a rock, are for a start great tunes, the rest of the album falls into place. It is without doubt one of the top 20 in my collection of over 500 albums.
When I finally get my chance to fly to the states and take a car up route 66 this is one cd I will have with me. Seger gives you a feel and a taste for mainstream mid west southern ... Read More:

Fine, but too short. There is absolutely no faulting the songs that are here, but the ones that aren't make this collection less than perfect, and at 62 minutes it could easily have included a few more.
But if you don't want to invest in Seger's original studio albums, go get this collection, and the two live albums "Nine Tonight" and "Live Bullet". That'll satisfy anyone but the most ardent fan.
