Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great introduction to the Kenton philosophy
I bought this as an LP and played it heaps, now only 2nd or 3rd to Tropicana and Live in London but it is the essence of Kenton and much has never been played better, Southern Scandal, Painted Rythym to mention just 2! Worth the money over the Hallmark poor transfers.

This album was issued in 1956 not the early '60's as another reviewer states.I can confirm that because that was the year I bought this LP.This was a revelation from the lo-fi sound of every record previously. I started collecting Kenton in the early 1950's on 78's so you can see what rapid recording strides were made in such a short time.The tracks played on this album were in my opinion never surpassed, wonderful music.
