 Rating:  - Themes is a wiser choiceThis is a good CD but for a taste of Vangelis, which "The Best Of Vangelis" implies, I think Themes would be a wiser choice. It contains a wider selection of pieces, including some work from Blade Runner and Antarctica. Portraits is another CD to look out for if you want a taste, Portraits containing more of the progressive rock style Vangelis, with vocals from Jon Anderson - the singer from YES. This CD is rather a poor compilation. Rating:  - Review of Vangelis work from the 1970sThis is one of a number of Vangelis compilations. This compilation compiles some of his less lush but nevertheless distinctive and groundbreaking works from the 1970s. "So long ago so clear" is excerpted from "Heaven & Hell" and features the vocals of Jon Anderson. "Portraits" and "Reprise 1990-1999" provide more recent updates to his large catalog. |
