 Rating: - MORE THAN A NOVELTY HITMAKERRay Stevens was known in the 1960s and 1970s for his funny songs like Bridget The Midget, Ahab The Arab, Gitarzan and The Streak, but he had a serious side that is explored here. His version of Sunday Morning Coming Down is my favourite of all the versions I’ve heard, with its lush production and soaring vocals. Misty is a banjo-driven country song that was a hit in 1974 and Turn Your Radio On is a light, poppy number with gospel undertones. Take Care of Business is a serious, somber song with gripping lyrics and a memorable tune. The cover versions of She Belongs To Me and Young Love are accomplished and very listenable.
