 Rating: - Average selection but quality assuranceI've looked at other 1952 compilations, as I was looking for some hits from this year and both those are rather less classy affairs which include all hits, but transferred from original 78 records. What is the point of this when the master tapes most likely still exist? There must be some kind of reason, because on this more upmarket EMI collection (also available as a birthday card) the songs are a lot more obscure. I've no idea how these songs performed Stateside but there are very few UK hits for what looks like a UK-made CD, and the rest are unheard-of names. Nevertheless, the sound quality is much better here than on the aforementioned collections, even considering the available technology at the time. The unknown ... Read More: |
