 Rating: - British Flute Music worth listening to !This is not easy litening but it is worthwhile litening. Unless you are a 20th C British Flute music boff (and probably therefore a flautist!) you may not have even heard of most of the works on this CD or the composers with the exception of Lloyd Webber, made famous by his sons and Finzi whoes son appears in Hillary and Jakie as Hillary's husband ! Back to the music. Very British, very pastoral but beautifully and delicately interpreted by Kennet Smith with skillfully blended with Paul Rhodes on piano. For me the highlight 'Five Bagatelles' by Gerald Finzi. Originally written for clarinet I believe but they seem to work very well for the flute as arranged by Kenneth Smith and I would love the score of the arrangement. Read More: |
