Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: Ordinarily, the hyped-up appearance of a "supergroup" is well worth avoiding. Yet this hardcore coalition, comprising production giants Show, Lord Finesse, Buckwild and Diamond, alongside rap veterans AG, O.C., Fat Joe and the late Big L, truly justifies such a distinguished tag. D.I.T.C.'s self-titled debut (it stands for Digging In The Crates) exemplifies New York's sound of the 1990s, yet provides a rock-solid classic for Y2K, albeit with some DJ Premier prime cuts. Like classic Gang Starr albums, there's little that would constitute a radical departure, minimal tempo changes from the low-slung norm; nor is there spot-lit posturing or hugely stand-out tracks. But somehow the 15-track whole is utterly convincing, as involuntary head-nod spasms prove mandatory and countless hooklines are inserted mercilessly. Whether it's the quirky elasticity of "Way of Life" or the spine-thrilling drama of "Weekend Nights", Show's consummate mixing style dominates throughout, and innovatively continues where the tragically overlooked Goodfellas release from he & AG left off in 1995. --Kevin Martin

I bought this cd on the strength of the audio samples with the listing. I wont beat around the bush, this compilation is just pure class. anybody who remotely digs funk, grooves, soul, library, soundtrack will love this cd. think along the lines of the funkiest cd in the mood mosaic series and you're still not doing it justice - it really is that good - just buy it immediately while you can get hold of it, i can see copies of this exchanging for serious money in the future

Most of the tracks on the album have been out on vinyl anyway, the primo mix of ebonics is in a word...awful, I have no idea how he managed to do it but he ruined ebonics, of course ditc come correct throughout, and all the stuff is of good quality but by no means is this the hiphop classic people were hoping for.

Big L, Andre the Giant, Fat Joe, Diamond, Buckwild etc-DITC boasts brilliant solo artists. But when they combine for this record, there is an undoubted explosion of rap talent. Add this to the production from Gang Starrs' DJ Premier, you have a rap classic in your cd player.
