Recorded when the Beatles and Stones were well into experimenting with the sitar, this album is a classic introduction to their friend and collaborator's brilliance.

A superb soundtrack to any setting where peace, tranquillity and generally mellow vibes are required or desired. Simply play this and feel those vibes almost instantaneously.

It's a shame that albums were generally so much shorter in the 60's - this could easily have gone on forever!

This 1967 'LIBERTY' recording captures Ravi Shankar at an exciting time in his life and musical career. The 'Beatle Guru' was now a star, and the entire world his stage. Of course, he had been accused of 'selling out', and raga purists were beginning to voice discontent. What was Ravi Shankar doing reducing ragas in length ? Why was he experimenting with Western forms? Why was he so freely mixing Karnatic and Hindustani music ? This record should be allowed to speak for itself. Shankar's beautiful sweet tone is a joy on RAGA BAIRAGA, a lovely 5 minute raga, which remains respectful of the tradition, yet accessible to newcomers.
