Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: Given the multi-million copy-selling success of Sacred Spirit: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans, its follow-up, Sacred Spirit II is bound to have a built-in audience. Like its predecessor, the collection mixes chant and song with dance beats and electronic instrumentation. While tracks like "Dela Dela" and "Yane-Heja-Hee" meld these elements most effectively, the overall effect of the synthesised sound is heavily over the top and distracting from the gentle melodies and heartfelt cries of Native music at its best. A prime example is the tender and lovely female vocal on "May You Walk in Sunshine", obscured by overly aggressive accompaniment. A more solid and aesthetically pleasing choice for the genre is Prophecy: A Native American Collection, which achieves a finer balance of modern and ancient. --Paige la Grone

If you like trance/chillout albums the likes of which resemble Enigma, then your want to add this to your collection, but if your looking for something authentic, and original, that helps you feel the mood and spirit of the native american tribes and cultures, then stay away from this cd, because you will be disapointed.
However i will be recommending it to my friends who like a chillout session after a long nights clubbing

I love this CD. I use it for Reiki healing and could listen to it all day long.

I loved the first album but this is brilliant and I can't stop listening to it. I can't wait for Volume 3 to come out. As money raised from the sale helps our brothers and sisters in America it is a good cause. I can't fault this one at all. Strong instrumentals and haunting voices. This has it all.

If you liked the first album. You will love this one. This one is a bit more up-beat, than the last but just brilliant! Stirs the Soul.

American Indian music, modern & traditional, is some of the most vibrant and compelling I've ever heard...but this seems rushed and gimmicky, and (ssshhh) smells just a wee bit of all that New Age bandwaggoning reducing American Indian heritage to something the middle classes dream about over a few candles and meditations on what their power animal should be today.
Sacred Spirit is by no means the worst example though (it at least seems to be clubbing-based), and if it helps point ears in the direction of REAL American Indian music, then fine. But why not support those artists instead? Rather than this, try Primeaux & Mike, Ulali (superb!), Joseph Fire Crow, Robert Tree Cody, Walela, & a host of others. And for some real ... Read More:
