Bobby Darin seemed to touch everything except Beatles Music-he would have got round to it if he'd lived long enough.
His version of If I were a Carpenter is definitive.
For him it began with one lost night when both he and Connie Francis were total unknowns and he covered Lonnie Donegan's Rock Island Line.
2 years later he'd begun a chart career with some groovy rock'n'roll before reinventing himself a year later as a Sinatra clone.
He was accused of copying Sinatra but so what-everybody copies.Even Sinatra who in 1960 copied Bobby Darin!
