 Rating:  - The only 'complete' Jim Reeves CollectionThis DVD is very rare. There are simply dozens of 'best of', 'ultimate collections', 'greatest hits', etc etc etc, Jim Reeves collections. But this is the best of the lot. The issue is, do you want the complete collection or not ?? Just about every worthwhile song he recorded is included in this vast collection, which is probably reflected in the price. Rating:  - DO NOT TRY TO BUY THISTHIS IS NOT ABOUT THE ITEM ITSELF AS I ORDERED IT IN JUNE 2007 AND I AM WRITING THIS IN AUGUST 2007 AND HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED THE ITEM YET WHEN I E-MAILED AMAZON TO SEE WHERE IT WAS THEY DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO CONTACT ME, I HAVE NOW PHONED THEM TODAY AND THE RESPONSE WAS THE STOCK ANSWER THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE DISTIBUTORS I WAS SO ANGRY THAT YES I GOT VERY UPSET WHICH IS NOT USUSAL FOR ME BUT I HAD ORDERED THIS FOR A BIRTHDAY PRESENT IN JUNE AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH AMAZON BEFORE THIS BUT THE TREATMENT WHEN YOU TRY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMEHTING IS REALLY REALLY BAD. Rating: - JIM REEVES - LEGEND, THEN - LEGEND, NOW!!!Jim Reeves is by the era's standard a legend. Very few artists have achieved what Jim did with his records. Elvis never did it. Bing Crosby Never did it. I am 17 years old, a devout fan of Jim Reeves, And THIS collection is immense - however i have 99.9% of all his material and believe me - there are very few bad records - so really this collection is a sample of what Jim was. May i please make note also to a previous comment left for this album - Dolly Parton does NOT appear on this album ther overdub duets of Don't Let me Cross Over & Oh How I Miss You Tonight are from the 1980's album entitled "dont let me cross over" Jim Reeves featuring Deborah Allen. Read More: Rating: - Excellent British retrospectiveJim's hit career was more complicated than most, because he had different hits in different countries. So, depending on which country you live in, the tracks you regard as essential will vary. This particular collection is a British compilation. Like so many compilations of his music, this one tends to focus on his later recordings, although it does include a few early tracks, including Mexican Joe, his very first American country hit. Welcome to My World for example has no strings and is a superbly sympathetic version. There's also the track of 'Have You Ever Been Lonely' with Patsy Cline - a tribute to modern technology. Although not credited Dolly Parton appears on two tracks as well. All in all a superb set of recordings with Jim Reeves' voice at its very very best. |
