 Rating: - Revival timeTime's not been kind to Donovan, his recordings still left alone by the very generation (ie the new alt-folk movement) which should have been enjoying him. Maybe it's an image-thing, with him never recovering credibility after the cruel savaging by his Bobness on Don't Look Back, and Donovan always seeming to present himself in the last-fashion-but-one; the Dylan cap long after Lennon threw his away, those terrible, hippy/faux-Eastern frocks from 1969...and perhaps, like Nick Drake, he should have died looking Beautiful and Tragic. Whatever the case, to listen to these early recordings (most of them made when he was only 18 or 19) is a real surprise.
