Battlestar Galactica Season 2 Soundtrack - Bear McCreary.
My Review:
After the recent success of the show, Bear McCreary is making himself a household name, with more than one trick up his sleeve to get you into the swing of his matured and very prominently made tunes. He continues the sweeping multi-faceted talent of Richard Gibbs, who's music provided the style and overall ostentatious feel to the series. Bear McCreary gets really into it, adding and mixing constantly what feels right at that right moment, intricacies levelled throughout the entire album, adding true emotion, you may never catch the deepness of these songs the first time and they only get better with time; with clever cross-cut shots to coincide ... McCreary excels himself here, surpassing even his near flawless work on the first season. He still pays tribute to Galactica's established and Richard Gibbs's motifs and hallmarks (eastern modalities, ethnic instrumentation blending with orchestra and synths, pounding percussion and soaring sopranos), but what marks this score out as special is the full flowering of McCreary's own voice. His testosterone-fuelled take on Philip Glass minimalsim is beautiful to behold (Glass's Metamorphosis One featured early in the secon season in a nice tribute and nod from McCreary), indeed some of his beautiful scoring for strings would have done the old maestro himself proud.

I cannot give an unbiased review because I am a huge fan of the television series, however as has been detailed by other reviewers, if you like the television series you are sure to enjoy the soundtrack. Many of the tracks are classical and orchestral, with one or two more modern tracks thrown in for good measure. If you enjoyed the orchestral moodiness that took the television show to another level, this CD is something that you should own.

This is in my opinion one of the best soundtracks ever created, not only is the title theme hauntingly beautiful and unforgetable - but almost every other song on the cd is too! There are no 'duff tracks' especially not reuniting the fleet!
Really makes you appreciate the show even more after hearing this.
Well worth it.

Quite simply beautiful, powerful and awe inspiring.
As with the show itself, Bear keeps getting better and better.
I have so far listened to this CD daily since it arrived through my letterbox...
If you are a fan of the show then you really should own this, you won't regret it. If you are a fan of good music then you will also love this.
