 Rating: - A dazzling debut from Scotland's finest young fiddler.Listening to `Heartsease', Shona Mooney's debut album, it is not difficult to understand why she was voted BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2006. Not since Catriona MacDonald and Ian Lowthian's `Opus Blue' has an album of fiddle music spent as much time in my CD player. This is an album crammed full of foot-stomping sets and beautiful memorable melodies that will stay with you long after the CD has finished playing. Alongside some original and inventive arrangements of traditional tunes are a bunch of new compositions that amply demonstrate that with exponents as accomplished as Miss Mooney the tradition of Scottish fiddle music is in very safe hands indeed.
