Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
The second album by New York City's Scissor Sisters, Ta-Dah, brings with it a huge weight of expectations. After all, their debut album slowly rode up the charts in 2004 to become that year's biggest selling album. The good news is that, like their debut, Ta-Dah is packed full of witty, grown-up pop music. Their influences remain the same, including a bit of 1970's disco and glam rock, a bit of classic Fleetwood Mac and a bit of early Elton John (who plays piano on the ultra-catchy album opener "I Don't Feel Like Dancing"). Musically, it's easily as much fun as their debut: "Land of a Thousand Words" is an homage to the themes from the James Bond films, "She's My Man" tells the tale of a fabled female New Orleans river pirate, "Ooh" is the funkiest dance song never played at Studio 54 and "Kiss You Off" is a liberating break-up anthem sung by the band's Ana Matronic. Lyrically, though, Ta-Dah is not as full of the unchecked hedonism of their first album, with the vaudevillian "Intermission" proclaiming, "We were born to die." But even if the sentiment isn't particularly cheerful, the music definitely is. With Ta-Dah, the Scissor Sisters manage to be both big and clever, once again producing some of the smartest pop music you can dance to. --Ted Kord

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great fun despite some sloppy production
Despite generally being in to music with more bite and brutality I found it impossible to resist this album; It's fun, sharp, unashamed and stands out in my music collection. The only disappointment for me was that the 'full' versions of many of the songs on this album aren't quite as sharp as the radio edits. It appears they thinned a whole lot of the dead weight from tracks such as 'She's my man' and 'I don't feel like dancin'' before they put them out and the versions recorded in the album lose their flow and poise due to what can only be described padding. The ordering of the tracks isn't great either, it feels like all the songs are clumped and the weaker tracks were just shuffled later in to the order which means you'll probably listen ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Funky and brilliant...
The Scissor Sisters are one of the best bands to have emerged in recent years. Their first album was an immediate hit and their 2nd has followed the same path of success! American audiances rejected these guys but the UK and the rest of the world has embraced them fully for their funky pop/rock beats and lurid lyrics. As bands go they are indeed different...very surreal but you just can't help loving them! On "Ta Dah!" my favourite songs are 'She's my man' and 'kiss you off'. This album is well worth having in your collection and is great for cheering you up on a gloomy day. Scissor Sisters really do know how to camp it up and they're just so totally cool!

Their music is unique because it combines electronic sounds with rock and ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Grows and grows on you!!!
Having been a massive fan of their first album, I couldn't wait for their follow-up.

My initial response to it however, was slight disappointment. Less 'naughty' and raunchy than its predecessor, it was also slightly less immediate and sounded more tame on the first couple of listens.

However, it has since proved its worth. No-one creates hooks like Scissor Sisters do, and there are so many catchy, funky songs that you will find yourself turning up the volume to dance around to many of the songs, 'Paul McCartney', 'Lights' and 'Ooh' being examples (that have not so far been released as singles, but believe me, they will be!).

'Land of a thousand words' and 'The other side' show the more introspective and ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - just keep getting better
The Scissor Sisters just keep getting better with every song they write. while many people say they are dissopointed with the second album HOW DARE THEY, personally its fantastic, i stuggle to choose a favourite song but for me it is 'lights' tied with 'i can't decide' the lyrics are just fantastic!! 'I don't feel like dancin' just makes you want to dance all night and is a song that can be listened to (as is the whole album) over and over again. i love the disco theme running through the album, very nice, love the artwork, heres to more albums to come!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Doesn't live up to previous album's standards
The album before this, the Scissor sisters debut album was fantastic. I thought that all of the songs on it were catchy and great to listen to. This one, i personally thought fell way short of that. There are a few songs which yes, i listen to a lot and which constantly get my foot tapping. I suppose that is why i gave it 4 stars. On the scissor sisters previous album, not only the songs released as singles were the best, there were plenty of other ones which you would com across and later apsolutely love, this album didn't seem to do that for me. It is a good album but it wouldn't be so popular had the scissor sistors not done really well with their previous songs.

The ones which stood out for me were:

'I don't feel like ... Read More:
