I bought this album and I haven't listened to anything else since.
You know when you hear a track off and album and then buy it and it turns out that the track you heard was the only good one... well that doesn't happen here.
I don't normally write these reviews, but on this occaision I am as I have enjoyed this album so much that I want to recommend it to as many people as possible.
This is a brilliant album. Every track is great. If its sunny, it's just the thing to listen to. If it's grey and miserable out, put it on and it feels like its sunny outside.
This is probably going to be my favorite album of the year. And if you get "Reggae Hit L.A." to go with it you'll have an hour and a half ... Read More:

Al Capone's Guns was the first song I remember as a little kid in 1973.
Ska positive is my blood type.
A lot of the third wave was a bit too So.Cal brain sprain for my liking.
Operation Ivy were a great outfit, I saw Rancid 3 times in something like 4 days in Melbourne.
So as you can see I was predisposed to this album sight unseen trax unheard.
But I was totally prepared for a horrible disappointment.
This is SUPERB.
Simple paired down ska, the Agrro-lites are spry, on top for and totally crisp.
Into Action is the jump up track of the CD but it is quickly put back in it's place by the rest of the gang.
Tim Armstrong sings like an amputee, ... Read More:

For what seems likes an eternity, the wait for the new Rancid album is becoming increasingly frustrating, particularly since its been five years since Indestructible. But you could forgive Tim Armstrong as for the past half a decade, his name has appeared more and more, whether its with his side project Transplants, writing ground breaking hits for pop star Pink or producing albums for Lars Frederiksen and The B***tards.
So essentially A Poets Life is basically a stop gap collection of songs as a way of saying thank you to the fans, although these tunes had been released on MySpace for a few months, with the added addition of a dvd, there's no harm in buying this cd.
A Poets Life is a fitting tribute to some of the greatest ... Read More:

I had a listen to the song that has been released and was not overly enthusiastic but being a big fan on Tim's work i bought the album. I was very very happy after giving this album a few listens too. The instrumental work on the songs just brings a smile to your face and its easy to find your self relaxed. The album is short but you can listen to it over and over again. 5 stars for me accompanied by my seal of approval.

I first heard Hold On and Wake up when they were released as free tracks on the rancid myspace, and was happy to hear tim was making it into an album, waiting since last september to finnaly hear this album and i can safely say, its been worth the wait, a sure album for the summer months and for those days when you just need something to make you smile :)
Mainly all ska, dub and reggae, it still apeals i feel to fans of rancid and tims other projects
Check it out if you feel like something different from Tim Armstrong, who is nothing short of a musical and lyrical genius
