Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Simply Superb
To put it simply this is one of the best folk albums I have ever purchased, the choice of tracks is inspired, and I have found myself listening to it over and over again.

It is simply superb, and worth every single penny!

My favourite tracks are John Barleycorn and the charming ouses ouses ouses!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I'd love to live in this Imagined Village if I could hear music like this!
I love this album - the more I hear it the more I like it. It ranks with Bellowhead & the Oysters for innovative re telling of Old Tales - hear Tam Lyn, one of my favourite old storys, updated for the 21st Century.
Great Stuff - I'd love to see it performed live.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A true fusion of the sound of Britain
Heard about this project a bit ago, but held back buying it till I had seen them live. WOW, now that was truly awe inspiring

Then I buy the album...and the ep...and the tee shirt.

The whole project works, on stage it is mesmerising, on record, spine tingling.

The stand out for me is the Benjamin Zephaniah Tam Lyn retelling, but the whole thing is a candidate for the best album I've bought this year by a country mile.

On a side note Paul Weller sounds absolutely brilliant on this album, man I hope he has a bit more of a stab at this sort of thing in the future.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fusion without compromise
A wonderful fusion that doesn't compromise any of its elements. If you can imagine a group of musicians taking the concept of something like Fairport Convention's "Liege & Lief" and injecting its crossover energy into something that's thoroughly 21st century, this is it. Check out Benjamin Zephaniah's haunted medieval fertility tale "Tam Lyn Retold" with Eliza Carthy's voice ringing out over beats from Trans Global Underground - or Billy Bragg's cri de coeur "Hard Times of Old England", or Martin Carthy handing over lead vocal midway through "John Barleycorn" to none other than Paul Weller, who sounds reborn himself in this role. Fantastic music, through and through.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brill, brill, brill!
Just can't stop listening to this one - love Simon Emmerson's stuff anyway, but thanks for introducing me to some folks I've not heard of. Tiger Moth just make me want to dance!
