 Rating: - Worth a bit extra for the DVDIt's probably just about worth the extra money to get the John Hiatt DVD with his new CD, though it isn't very long. The CD itself I'd give four stars to. On the whole I've enjoyed it very much, despite a couple of tracks he doesn't pull off vocally. It has a bunch of very catchy well-rounded songs and is really nicely produced for a change. Note that there's nothing on the DVD from Same Old Man. But there are performances of classic songs from presumably the late eighties when JH looked a bit gaunt, up to relatively more recent times when he looks older but better. I also prefer the somewhat later performances though they're all cherry picked good 'uns. There's a particularly nice rendition of Crossing ... Read More: Rating: - Mainly a review of the DVDI have tried to put a review of the CD itself in the appropriate place but for some reason it hasn't appeared. So for those of you who just want the CD be aware it says it all in the title. John is becoming more and more aware of his advancing years and he deals with it with humour and insight. As for the DVD they are different live recordings made in what appears to be a TV studio somewhere. They show John ageing gracefully in the late 80's, early nineties so they look like they are maybe guest appearances on a regular TV show. Is there a show called Austin City Limits, because that gets a mention or two? The set looks a bit like the Letterman one if that helps.
