 Rating: - Venetian Snares goes soft... sort ofThis would be a good album to introduce yourself to Venetian Snares with, if you haven't heard any of his ('Aaron Funk')'s work before. It's a lot more accessible and dare I say 'listenable' than some of his other albums, and shows strong influences from rave sounds and raw early jungle & drum & bass, rather than previous efforts that have been nothing less than total and deliberate audio chaos. It's even got a proper rap in places and as usual it's great fun. Is Aaron Funk growing up and getting soft?.. Not entirely, there are still plenty of parts of this album that sound like pure evil in musical form. It's still a record that will scare your parents, for sure. Rating:  - Back to the old school!!When I heard that the new album from V Snares would have a ragga influence and 90's drum and bass feel to it, in all honesty, I wasn't holding too much hope for it. How wrong was I? I was only introduced to V Snares last year but I now have his full back catalogue with the only disapointment in Winter in the belly... This album is Aaron at his best and you can tell this is what he enjoys doing best. Back to old school beats with some tracks reaching a ferocity that I haven't heard since Winnepeg. There are quite a number of tracks on here that are undeniably modern masterpieces..Most noteably Kyokushin, Eurocore MVP and Flashforward. But wait till the end track. Miss ... Read More: Rating: - more of the same but with added funwasn't really sure about the new album before I heard it, I'd heard conficting reports of how bad Poo Yourself Jason was but how brilliant Gentleman was. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised, his most fun release since 'Cavalcade Of Glee' by far, poles apart from the sombreness of My Downfall. Highlights for me include the superb Sajtban, and Circle Pit. The only downsides I found to it were, as mentioned before the limited use of samples, and the ear-splitting shrillness of Flashforward Then you get to the final track, what a track....listen to it, and love it If you'e only just stumbled upon VSnares this is one of the albums you must buy Rating: - Fun stuff from VSAnother exceptional addition to the Snares catalogue, after all his weird and wonderful experiments Funk has set out to establish that he is still very much the main man when it comes to fkd-up jungle. The whole format of this release is heavily based on an old-school vibe and is much more dancefloor orientated, a factor that will divide snares fans in their opinion of this record. Obviously it is technically superb and the production is also top notch but due to the slightly restricted use of samples it feels a lot less adventurous than we have come to expect although this is posssibly the most fun record he has sent our way for some time.
