Oh! My Goodness...what on earth do we have here? What have Submarine Records done to Jay Wilbur's fine band? This new release is truly horrendous!

These recordings were made between 1930 and 1936 by a fine studio house band and there are some excellent performances here, but they have been totally spoiled by the most inept remastering you could imagine. Track one starts abruptly as the first note or two has been shaved off in the "remastering" process. There is no excuse for that. I suspect many of the original 78s used were in less than pristine condition, but that doesn't account for the sound distortion evident on most tracks and the variations of volume which mar any potential listening pleasure.
