The Cure pop songs always were a breath of fresh air in our imperfect world. Even the most hated song of theirs, Friday I'm in Love, is a lovely piece of sincere joy. In short, when Smith and K want to create a pop song, they make it different and unique. Freakshow is no exeption, it's extremely bouncy and funny, Smith's singing puts a huge smile on your face, and a slight shadow of keyboards in this mix is a relly nice touch. The only negaive part of the a-side - the song is too short! And the beginning seems to be cut off =(
The b-side, All Kinds of Stuff, is very interesting melodically, it's a strange mix of Kiss Me and Wild Mood Swings. The lyrics may be simple, but the singing isn't, Smith put all his heart into his vocal ... Read More:

What with first single - The Only One - and now this, i am really, really looking forward to the new album. Freakshow presents the band on top form, a well-rounded sound that is impossible to resist. Whereas The Only One had a very light, innocent feel Freakshow takes on a more snappy, quirky sound but is equally as successful, packing an incredible amount of energy into just 2 and a half minutes.
The more and more i listen to this song the more i like it, as it at once sounds like the classic Cure we all know and love while updating it with a freshness that shows the band are still very much on top form. B-side All Kinds of Stuff packs that same punky energy, extremely well produced with the ... Read More:

A real classic Cure track and so catchy its a real shame the British TV & Radio decide not to promote the track, I believe with some decent airplay this would become the biggest Cure hit for many years. At least true Cure fans appriciate the track.

Wont get any complaints from me.
The Cure are still making enjoyable yet eccentric tunes.
A more playful song this time on the lines of Lullaby or lovecats i guess. Extremely catchy. but its far to short at two and a half minutes.
If this doesn't get you going then nothing will.
B-side is as expected.. a typical outtake, good but not great you can hear why it was cut from the album its just not good enough but it is a quality b-side, Heavy and aggressive.
The self titled album was fantastic and hard to beat but if theses singles are a reflection on the new record I'll be a happy chappy.

Robert Smith and The Cure are clearly still loving their music, almost 30 years after they started. Freakshow is classic Cure at their mindbending best.
