 Rating: - Breathtaking debut.This wonderful record surpassed all my expectations i built up after listening to their record with Jenny Lewis. It's far softer than i was expecting, but what a lovely slice of Americana. From the whispery opening of "How am i to be", to the enrapturing "Waves" you know you've been treated to something special. Buy this album if you enjoyed the Rabbit Fur Coat, or just buy it. You owe it to yourself. Rating: - tight little albumbought this album on the strength of 'Rabbit Fur Coat' the album done with the lassie from Rilo Kiley which came out a few years ago. As well as a interview done by one of the twins and a preview of a couple of the tracks on the Guy Garvey show on BBC6. Anyway i have not been disappointed, faultless singing from both of the twins, and tight instrumentation, make this a very worthwhile purchase. Rating:  - A promising debut long-player...Two years on, I still don't know which one of the Watson Twins it was that I met properly. But in a way, that just makes it all the more "hilarious" doesn't it? Anyway, now that Jenny Lewis has gone back to Rilo Kiley, it's finally time for the Twins to properly step into the spotlight, with Fire Songs, their debut album. Their collaboration with Lewis on Rabbit Fur Coat (an album which no less an authority than my father said was "morbid beyond belief") led to a certain amount of expectation for their full-length debut but it was also difficult to gauge just what an impact they could have on their own. Read More: Rating: - Well worth waiting for.Loved the Watson Twins on Jenny Lewis' record, and have been waiting for their own record with anticipation. Caught them at the 12 Bar recently and loved them live too. Fire Songs is a great debut full length album. My favourite tracks have got to be the opener "How Am I To Be" and the brilliant Cure cover "Just Like Heaven". I hope they come back to tour soon. |
