 Rating: - An unknown SuperstarI had never heard of Ruthie Foster and went to her session at the Cambridge Folk Festival 2007 more or lees by chance. Wow - what a knock out. Ruthie stole the show and had the whole audience in the palm of her hand. She was sensational! With her roots in gospel she has absorbed other styles and with a vocal power and a sensitivity few can match she is a rounded artist of great accomplishment. I bought this album at the Festival and was almost put off by the title - few artists deserve the adjective "Phenomenal" - but she surely does. I love the way the instrumentation on some of the tracks are into modern jazz while the purity of her voice shines through. A truly wonderful album. Rating: - Another great talent via an Eric Bibb concertLike the previous reviewer my introduction to Ruthie Foster came via her supporting role at yet another wonderful Eric Bibb gig. She really is an amazing talent; the glospel meets blues delivery is powerful, passionate and dare I say spiritual. What a soulfull and captivating performer. One of my all time favorite singer/songwriters along with Eric Bibb - pure angelic genius at work. Rating: - PhenomenalI first saw Ruthie Foster when she supported the fabulous Eric Bibb. I didn't know who she was but within seconds of hearing her voice for the first time I was blown away! I searched and searched for an album and finally bought her first two albums (self produced whilst she was looking for a record contract) and couldn't get enough. If you are a Eric Bibb fan you've heard her before (on the Ship called Love Album amongst others). She is, simply, Phenomenal!!!! If you like classy music, if you want to treat your ears, the BUY IT! |
