 Rating: - Best album of the yearWow, these guys show the rock is still alive and kicking! I liked the darkness, they were good for some light hearted humor laden rock. Justin had amazing talent but his voice did get annoying. These guys simply ROCK, From Megadeth esque riffage in Burn the Witch to ballads like lazy bones these guys echo classic rock and 80's metal. Richie has a strong powerful voice that perfectly suits every song on here. Some standouts for me were the bone crushing "Burn the Witch" "Don't Drink the Water" and "Knight of the living dead" If you like this album you guys MUST check out the b-sides. The original Burn the witch EP includes the Very thin lizzy inspired "Breakdown" The Knight of the living Dead has the awesome ... Now i loathed The Darkness but I knew somewhere in the queen rip off merchants there was potential and finally I'm pleased to say they have unlocked some of that said potential. SS&BB is a good solid Rock album with Metal moments think AC/DC laced with Metallica opening track "Burn The Witch" has got a great riff's and a catchy courus. "You Brought A Knife To A Gun Fight" has the mentioned AC/DC swagger and attitude. My personal fave's are the more heavier tracks like "Defend Or Die" and "Knight Of The Living Dead" which have the cool straight up Metal riffage throughout. Well, as you'd expect, there are obvious hints of The Darkness to be heard. However, it is on rare occasions and SG have formed a good sound of their own. Read More: Rating: - Amazing album, very pleased I bought it.While I was on holidays in Manchester, I bought this album I have heard about this band somewhere before so I decided to buy it and this album absolutely rocks. The riffs by Richie and Dan are brilliant and memorable, the drumming is great and the lyrics are also really good. My favourite songs here are deffinetly Burn The Witch & Defend Or Die both awesome songs. Some of the riffage on this album remind me alot off Megadeth's earlier stuff for example near the end of the song Burn The Witch the riff when I first heard it straight away reminded me off Mustaines riffs on Countdown To Extinction and So Far So Good So What brilliant. The vocals are excellent on this album too. This album is well worth the money if you're just looking for a good rock/metal ... Read More: Rating: - Absolutley Amazing !My copy arrived the other day and hasn't left my Hi-Fi system since! This is a fantastic album. The songs on it are all very heavy and Richies's voice is so loud and powerful, it's deffinatley one of the best rock albums of 2008 if not the best. They are a totally different band from The Darkness so there is no point in comparing them but this album is truly a master piece, a must have for any fan of rock n'roll music. |
