 Rating: - Blazing his own trailAfrobeat is back in all it's hip-shaking vitriolic splendour with this raucous release from Seun Kuti. It might be Fela's old band but Seun cuts his own swathe with that deep bombastic voice and sax solos that really hit the lines. The tracks are so painfully groovy, the riffs of the brilliant opener "Many Things," and "Fire Dance" standing out for their intoxicating relentlessness. The lyrics are as passionate as fearless as Fella's with attacks on the Nigerian establishment and poverty. This is shamelessly passionate music that you'll hold, cherish and listen to forever. |
