 Rating: - Wots ..... Uh The DealA sumptuous box 5 discs which covers pretty much the best of the 2006 tour and forming a pretty good tribute to the late Richard Wright. The main feature discs one and two are CDS of the Gdansk concert with the Baltic Philharmonic concert orchestra. Disc one made up mainly of the `On an island album`, disc two David Gilmours greatest hits with probably the definitive live version of Echo's the seminal Pink Floyd classic. Disc three is the fist of two DVD's this is highlights of the Gdansk concert and a rather good documentary the concert highlights stretch to 100 minutes or so. Read More: Rating: - Unsettlingly GoodWhen this item arrived I had no idea it was actually a "box" set. I was expecting a nice looking fold out card thing with the discs nicely set out. But no. I was astonished when I saw how much work had been put into this whole package. The large booklet riddled with great pics, the double sided poster, replica concert ticket, replica of Dave's stage pass, cool sticker, postcard, plectrum, photos, and that's before you get to the 5 seperately sleeved discs. I've only got as far as half way through audio tracks (listening to it right now actually), but i can tell you it's enough to send shivers down your spine. Just the introduction, the heartbeats of 'Speak To Me' kinda gives you a chill, as you wait for the crescendo into 'Breathe'. ... Read More: Rating: - FantasticIt's a fantastic release. Great concert (perfect sound), some amazing extras (Gilmour's guitar pick, photographs, 24 pag. booklet etc). Imprescindible. Rating: - Classic GilmourAn absolutly fantastic concert incredibly well produced and performed by gilmour and co. The orchestra really adds something great to this. The extra cd you get is also excellent with 12 awsome tracks from the tour. The documentry is a little dissapointing, but the other sessions, the 5.1 on an island and assorted extras more then make up for it. Well worth the money! Rating:  - Lose the orchestraThe only explanation for the presence of the orchestra on this album is that Dave Gilmour (he'll always be 'Dave' to me) can afford it. It adds nothing to the music and detracts from Rick Wright's keyboards, which have been more than adequate to provide depth and majesty to Pink Floyd for the last 40 years. I increasingly found myself thinking the presence of the orchestra was an insult to the man who has contributed so much to so many great songs. But, rather irritatingly, when Gilmour launches into a solo, it's bloody magic. I bought the two CD, two DVD version and all the highlights are on DVD two - the three jams filmed in Gilmour's barn are nothing short of brilliant, as is some of the concert footage from ...
