I'm not usually into all monster related things, I like a bit more realism. However this was suprisingly good. Don't let the synopsis full you, it's not all about the monsters ... what's happening in the store is the most frightfull thing! I won't say who but one individual in the store causes gradual madness upon the rest of the survivors within the store.
You have to see it, I have never got so wound up due to a characters behaviour. It was like the question you ask to people who go into a dark room knowing full well that there is something in there, that kind frustration. I could have literally shot this person, haha. Anyway, watch and you will see ...
Other than this, there is the reason they are there. A huge mist ... Read More:

OK - this is gonna be a short, simple review - take it or leave it. The performances by the actors are all ace - just minor fluctuations dictated by the script - and the solid direction of Frank Darabont is very sound. I shall not comment on these further.
The Stephen King short story The Mist is a a startling little gem. As with his other adaptions of King's work - The Shawshank Redemption, & The Green Mile - Darabont effectively utilizes the spirit of the story into his filmed adaption, and makes the most of King's sharp, hard, and emotionally effective writing. However the film strays from the novella's bleak, and unresolved ending (which has an epic sense of darkness in its cliff hanger) - by having a more resolved, and ... Read More:

Director Frank Darabont's enthusiasm for this project virtually drips off this 2 Disc edition. If you missed this in cinemas I would recommend this to any fan of intelligent horror as a must-buy for your collection. The picture did fairly well at the world-wide box office ($57 million) from a budget of $18 million. Stephen King's novels and short stories have normally been adapted for the small screen so it is to the credit of Weinstein Company that they decided to shoot one of his stories for the big screen and give Frank Darabont the budget and creative freedom to deliver us the creepy masterclass in suspense that he has done.
Bright and early the morning after a great storm David Drayton (Thomas Jane) surveys the damage to his ... Read More:

I bought this DVD with a little hesitence due to the somewhat hit and miss history of movie adaptations in the past. The name of Frank Darabont swung me in the end due to his stunning work 'The Green Mile' and 'Shawshank..'.I sat down on a sunday afternoon with a thought of hopefully just being entertained for a couple of hours,as a fan of of thoughtful horror i was not prepared for this at all.I am not going to spoil the plot for inquisitive buyers but suprisingly this got to me on an emotional level thanks to Frank Darabont sticking to his guns about an ending that will stay with me for some time.I beleive this to be a classic in the genre..it certainly makes alot of so called modern horror look frankly hopeless. The feeling that struck me and one ... This gem of a movie more than lives up to an already mighty reputation - brilliantly combining all the trappings of the science fiction horror genre, with taut direction, interesting characters, and very strong acting. What else though from the director of The Green Mile & The Shawshank Redemption?!
The melding of several 'classic' elements is what makes this so good - the mist itself (eerily reminiscent of Carpenter's The Fog), and the stunning New England locales, the supermarket under siege from a deadly enemy, and that enemy itself; a host of deadly creatures, ranging from fist sized bugs, to tentacled beasts, winged harpies and Cloverfield style Leviathans!
The FX are excellent, the concealing mist itself allowing a degree of ... Read More:
