. No Prayer for the Dyingby: Iron Maiden Release Date September 14, 1998 Looking at the other reviews opinion is clearly divided on the subject of this album. Fair enough. As far as I'm concerned this is is as far away from the magnificence of their first, and their most recent, albums as you can get. Grunge was coming and Maiden, along with a lot of metal bands, had totally lost their way. It's an album with few, if any, redeeming qualities. They were out of ideas. It's derivative, and not even good at being that. It's also one of Bruce's worst vocal performances as he tries a slightly more throaty style which just doesn't work for me at all.
