. Thirty Years Of Maximum R&Bby: The Who Release Date June 28, 1994 Before Hendrix or Cream or Zeppelin the 'oo were lumping slabs of feedback into the mix and making the charts mid sixties. Add to that some lyrics of alienation and anger, an amphetamine driven drum track (well pretty well anything-he-could-get-his-hands-on driven). Their live performances defined everything that followed pretty well (excluding Val Doonican and Perry Como). This and the Yardbirds were the original British sound track for the swinging psychedelic sixties. Armenia City in the Sky - complete with groundbreaking backwards guitar before everyone was at it.
