Specials, the/More Specialsby: Specials Release Date September 15, 2003 This budget-price twin-set offers up their eponymous debut from 1979 & it's rapid follow-up More Specials from the following year. Their earlier releases on Two Tone (Gangsters by The Special AKA, The Selector by The Selector) & constant touring- resulting in much chaos- ensured that this Coventry-collective took their peak-live form into the studio (the Peel Sessions capture this period of The Specials, before they became more of a studio band). The Specials career may have been short- just these two LPs- but I think their significance is immense & I'd see them as revered as The Beatles, The Clash, The Jam, or whoever...
