Requests The Pleasure Of Your Company (Original London Cast) and Bonus Tracksby: Joyce Grenfell Release Date March 21, 2005 If you are looking for Joyce Grenfell's trademark monologues of mimicry, this is not the CD for you, though there are one or two items of this type. It is a remastered recording of an early show, where the emphasis is on the music. The sound quality is extremely high, and we often forget what a beautiful singing voice she had. Some of the items are entirely serious, like her songs from the American South; where there is a comic element, at this distance in time we often can't see the point. There are several bonus tracks added, mostly by Beatrice Lilley. So if you are interested in the period, this is an important item for your collection; but for vintage Grenfell you should look elsewhere. |
