. Blue Jeans and Moonbeams: 2006 Remasterby: Captain Beefheart Release Date August 07, 2006 I must agree with several other reviewers that this album is very underrated. Ok, its no Safe as Milk, Clear Spot or Lick My Decals.. but Blue Jeans and Moonbeams has much to cherish. I first heard it in the early 80's and liked it very much. Now listening to it, I still find it has excellent, even classic Beefheart moments. Yes, there are a couple of weak tracks. But I for one can forgive that when there are some really great moments. The guitar solo on Further Than We've Gone brings me to tears. I am not sure whether it is Zoot Horn Rollo playing but it's one of my favourite guitar solos. The title track is equally moving along with Observatory Crest. Then for a change of mood you have Party of... and Same old Blues and Rock and roll's Evil ... Read More: |
