- A joy to listen to - but why ruin it with Shaun Ryder
For pure listening enjoyment this CD is a must - I bought it as a Christmas present and just 'had' to 'test' it - well you have to don't you ?? I would have given it 5 stars if only the Barcelona track hadn't been, for me, ruined by having Shaun Ryder's aggravating rendition. Such a shame, but it was easy enough to program the cd player to 'skip' ths track !! Look forward to the next Russel Watson CD - but please Russel, just you, alright ? right !!

I am not an opera fan and listened to this CD because I had heard Nella Fantasia on the radio several times. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole album with the exception of Barcelona. I'm no expert but Russell Watson would seem to provide an accessible introduction to some of opera's standards. Well worth listening to.

Worth buying for 'Nella Fantasia' alone. With careful guidance Russell could have a great future.His joy of singing comes over strongly. The next 5 years are crucial.As the saying goes- 'Watch this space!'

I listen to all types of classical singers and I must say this is indeed a refreshing approach. This artist deserves to be given a chance by the purists. I am a male voice choir member A tenor at that, give Russell Watson a chance I assure you he will end up one of the greats.

Well I have read some of the "purists" comments,not very pleasant are they? All I can say is if your not an old stuff shirt, and have a love of music, then audition this. Who knows with such singers as Russell, even Opera could be popular, plus great treatments of the more "pop" type music included on this album.To sum up,wonderful.
