- Rammstein - Mutter
This album is brilliant. It features some of the catchiest, heaviest guitar riffs around. The drums have a military type feel, a lot like Marilyn Manson. Not all of ther tracks are heavy throughout though, Mutter is essentially a ballad, and a great one at that.
Brief overview of each track:
1. Mein Herz Brennt - 5* One of the most powerful tracks ever recorded. The strings work perfectly along side the montonous guiar riff, this is the track that made me a Rammstein fan.
2. Links 234 - 4* Great riff, not quite as powerful as some of the other tracks but still a very enjoyable song to listen to, also fun to play guitar along to.
3. Sonne - 5* The song that most casual fans or non-listeners will recognise. It was played almost constantly on kerrang for a while. The chorus is very powerful, with guitars that threaten to blow your speakers at any moment.
4. Ich Will - 5* Simple but effective riff, cool vocals. A catchy little keyboard piece runs through in the background. Not the best song on the album, but very good.
5. Feuer Frei! - 3* This track is the worst on the album in my opinion. It may be good live but on record it seems to lack the power and catchiness of the rest of the album.
6. Mutter - 5* Another powerful track. This is a ballad, and is absolutely brilliant. I get a lump in my throat when I listen to this. Rammstein really know how to convey emotion and this song shows that. An album highlight.
7. Spieluhr - 5* The proof that a great riff can be exceptionally simple. This is one of my favourite riffs ever and it comprises of 3 or 4 notes. The song itself features a rather humourous spoken introduction, but once you get past that it's a great song.
8. Zwitter - 5* Great song. The sample of the woman saying zwitter is great and really adds an edge to the song. Cool chorus.
9. Rein Raus - 5* Another cool sample here. Great song yet again, the album shows no sign of losing quality.
10. Adios - 5* A Great faster track, should have been a single instead of Feuer frei! But then I'm not in charge of the band, unfortunately :(.
Hard to fault this track.
11. Nebel - 4* A cool track, the only reason I'm not giving this track 5* is because it is easily forgetable.
All in all, this album is amazing and I would reccommend it to any self respecting metal/industrial fan. Also, make sure you check out these nutters live!

Although the singing is all in german,and the band must be applauded for never selling out,this is an album that is essential from the german neue deutsche harte group which translates as new german hardness which is a catergory reserved for rammstein and a few other bands.
Mutter which means mother is a 2001 album and is widely regarded as rammsteins finest moment,its an album that is both hard hitting while maintaining melody and an almost commercial feel.
The album is filled with great tracks that deserve to be sang along too regardless of whether you speak german or not,cracking songs include linke 1,2,3,4 and sonne which is a masterclass of perfection in heavy music,ich will and mutter are also great.
This is an album that deserves its plaudits and while the vocal range never really changes ,the quality continues throughout,dont miss out.

Rammstein were not well known to me for a long time but i kept on seeing this music video on the tv and wondered
who it was because the video was just awesome and also i didn't understand a word of the song,that song was Sonne.
After that i was hooked and the hardcore industrial German act were soon in my cd collection.
I just can not describe how this album has changed my way of listening to music.I have always loved rock music and
never thought that a German industrial act would appeal to me but it did and this album has done that.
One of the best albums ever and any fan of rock music should try this.Every song is brilliant and i can not say that
about any other album i have ever heard,and it is all in German but i don't speak German and i still loved this and
even now years on from this album it is still the album i listen to the most.
If you are not sure if you want to buy this or not take it from me you won't look back after buying it and you'll
wonder why you waited this long to get it.

This IS metal at its finest. With a unique industrial blend, Rammstein manage to come up with this great album that should be owned by all metal fans. Not a single track worth skipping on here. Mein Herz Brent kicks the album of with a very hard and melodic chorus. Next up are the 5 single from the album, Links 2 3 4, Sonne, Ich Will, Feuer Frei! and Mutter, of which all are simply amazing and will have you listening to the them hours. Spieluhr is a slight toned down song but still with a powerful chorus. Zwitter is a song about hermaphrodites and Rein Raus is great too. I am used to albums getting worse towards the end, but in this case another could-be single Adios brings the intensity right back up before the final track, Nebel.
If you like metal/industrial then you will certainly like this album, I can't recommend it enough and is one of my favourite albums ever. I really do hope that Rammstein can come up with another album as good as this one.

Dieses Album von rammstien überrascht. Als sie zuerst das ausgebracht haben, hebt (sonne usw.) ich nur habe gedacht heraus, dass es gutes, aber nicht wert Kaufen war. Vier Jahre auf, ich habe entschieden, dieses Album zu kaufen, und ich gut desition es war, überrascht es, hat es deshalb viel zu ihm, ist die Lyrik so dunkel. So rate ich, dass jeder dieses Album besitzt, während es überrascht!
