- [3.5]-The album is pretty entertaining- not colorless at all
I have to say that, for a debut album, it's not bad - he's got a few really good tracks in here. Justin's Pop roots was pulled out then replaced with R&B and light hip-hop. Some of the songwriting is downright corny lyrically but several of the songs were well done by the Neptunes and Timbaland, they made this album more than Justin.
The ballads are not that great to me but the dance tracks are well done. The tracks that stand out to me are "Cry Me a River", "Rock Your Body", "Senorita", "Last Night", "Still On My Brain", "What You Got (Oh No)", and "Let's Take a Ride".
Another drawback to this album is Justin Timberlake vocal pitch. In almost every song that he performed and sang, I felt as though he was searching for some form of range within his style throughout this album. He obviously had overdone the Michael Jackson-y stuff a bit much. As other reviewers have said, many of the tracks do have that trademark "Off The Wall"/"Thriller" sounds to them. Hopefully, Justin will phase out of that and found his own sound; even if it is a mixture as long he shows some form of originality. Justin Timberlake has a lot of talent and creativity and I hope he keeps up the effort.
`Justified' is a versatile production and arrangements that works extremely well and appeals to a lot of listeners. Justin had proved to be the best bet for success amongst the boy band stream and with that, I'm definitely interested in hearing his future release in order to see if he'd actually worked on those mention setbacks.

This album, I think is a pretty good collection of hits, everyone knows the main ones, such as "Cry Me A River", "Rock Your Body", "Like I love you" and "Senorita". It's also pretty interesting to listen to when you find out that 12 of these tracks were written for Michael Jackson

I have finished listening to 'Justified' by the wonderful Justin Timberlake. I am surprised with this, it's actually a really nice album to listen to. Almost all the songs are well sung by him. I love the piano ballad never again and seems to be written to Britney Spears. Saying how much she'd broken his heart and would never forgive her and when you listen to the lyrics you can feel what his saying. I love the song 'still on my brain' which I believe is to Britney too. There real nice ballads. I also love the tracks 'Like I love you' 'rock your body' and 'last night' those r n b dancy tracks. This is a great effort from Justin well done!

Like many other music fans, I approached this album with apprehension, in a kind of 'hide it underneath another more trendy CD at the music shop' way. However what I found when I listened to this album, was not a slice of inoffensive bubblegum pop, but a cool and funky piece of work.
The Michael Jackson comparisons are to be expected, as the vocal style and, to a certain extent, the delivery are similar. However let us not get caught up in unfair comparisons, this is the work of a strong pop artist in his own right.
The opener, Senorita, is a storming introduction. It is everything a pop song should be, toe tapping, heavy beats, sing-a-long choruses, and very cool. The pop belters keep coming, with the single 'Like I Love You' and '(Oh No) What You Got', both soulful pop songs, and both genuinley good tracks.
Many have said the album is autobiographical, and on tracks like 'Cry Me A River' and 'Last Night' the sly digs at former love Britney Spears are frequent, however Justin seems to be taking the break up well, as the other half of the albums songs are upbeat odes to the joys of singledom, lines like "gonna have you naked by the end of this song" are performed with such a confidence you genuinely believe him. The standard of the tracks don't decline towards the end of the album, 'Right For Me' has a strong funky groove, and which could of made it as a single.
This is a must have pop album, a positive step away from his N*Sync days, and even if you consider yourself too much of a serious music fan to buy this album, you wont be disappointed, this is pop at its very best.

I am sure that there was a lot of hype about this album, but hype for all the wrong reasons, the hype there was when Brad made Troy, it was all people's opinions of Justin TImberlake and not what his music would actually sound like. The result is a disappointing album which has been overly praised and does not live up to the hype that was made about it.
This album for me does not live up to its expectations, although i never expected this to be the case as people had great expectations of Justin Timberlake.
Other than the singles, this is a poor album. There are numerous songs which are dragged out for far too long. There isn't really much flow, nor is there any consistancy in this album.
This is not purely a critical review, despite the numerous flaws, there still are signs of potential; Justin timberlake could be a successful music star for the music he makes but he has yet to achieve this on his own.
