Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Glam-rock excellence!
This album is track after track of hits. Highly camp, naughty and lots of fun; if you enjoy Mika, Queen's more tongue-in-cheek tracks or Elton John's dance tracks you will probably enjoy this album!

While the fun and funky 'Take Your Mama', 'Music is the victim' (both with echoes of Elton John at his most upbeat), 'Comfortably Numb' (the fantastic cover of Pink Floyd's great track) and 'Filthy/Gorgeous' will have you singing and dancing unashamedly, the gentler 'Mary' and 'Return to Oz' show more depth and tenderness, and are both moving and beautiful. In my opinion just about all the tracks on the album are winners!

This is a cd that I come back to over and over again, it lifts the spirits with its infectious sense of fun and naughty-but-niceness. Play it at parties, in the car...or even while you're doing the ironing. It's the ultimate feel-good fix!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - High Notes Or Top Class?
My first hearing of the Scissor Sisters was the debut single 'Comfortably Numb' and at first listening it sounded like a competition to see how high Jake Shears could sing but after hearing 'Take Your Mama' I was hooked on the Scissors and borrowed this album from a friend of mine.

This is a fantastic album and upon listening to it it's not hard to see why the group is as popular as they are. The tracks on it range from up beat and disco ('Better Luck' Comfortably Numb') to ballads (Mary) and even a darker side (Lovers In The Backseat) at the price this album is here it is difficult to turn down.

Before I forget, after listening to the entire album, I decided that Comfortably Numb was not a high note contest it is infact a very catchy disco song that you can't fail to dance to.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Second comes better than first - But Still Good
When listening to the CD after hearing I Dont Feel Like Dancing, the CD was lacking there potential. Ta-Dah is a better album as it provides better songs. Laura, Take Your Mama and Filthy/Gorgeous are good but overall there second is much better than there first CD. I would advise you to buy the CD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Dancetastic
I love the Scissor Sisters and I LOVE this album. It's a great mix of poppy tunes with disco tunes that will make any party a great place to be.
All these songs are songs you can sing along to and have a little boogie to on the dance floor.
They are well sung, well played and well written and everyone should have a copy of this album in their CD collection.
There are songs better than others on this album but they are all great fun and there isn't any tracks you would want to skip although there is a couple of songs on here that you need to listen to a few times to enjoy more.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Tantalising
First let me state I am a casual Floyd fan and that, yes, Comfortably Numb was a classic for that band. In the hands of Scissor Sisters it's far from the best track on their album. But this trend of die-hard Floyd Fans declaring this the worst album EVER just because of one cover version and giving it one star? Frankly it's mis-representative and a question of band-wagon jumping.I suspect that the same people would detest ANYONE covering Pink Floyd and I have to say die-hard Floyd fans probably aren't really the target audience for Scissor Sisters.
With that out of the way, what about the album?
It opens really strongly with 'Laura' and 'Take Your Mama' being the signature tracks for the album. I'd rank those tracks alongside any of my other favourites. Then it all starts to slide a little. 'Comfortably Numb' is refreshing, amusing even, but not worth more than a couple of listens.
'Mary' is, I suspect, where the Sisters will be in ten years. Once they mature as a band and as writers they'll be capable of creating classis like Mary at will. 'Lovers in the Backseat' is a pleasant enough track but not really up to the standard I'd have liked them to maintain.
'Tits on the Radio' though having an infectious beat, grates on me with the Bee-Gees on Helium vocals without making best use of them. Much better is 'Filthy/Gorgeous' a funky/disco riot.
'Music is the Victim' rocks well, but 'Better Luck' fades into obscurity - lacking personality compared to the rest of the album - good or bad. Somehow 'It Can't come quickly enough' recalls the Pet Shop Boys for me and 'Return to Oz' is a slow building end to the album.
On the strength of this I'll definitely pick up the new album, but I'm looking for an improvement in the quality throughout the album rather than it being focused in about 50% of the tracks.
