Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - probably the most adrenaline pumping and exhilirating band around!
Having been bored of general student genres of music entering my second year (september2006) a friend suggested that i listen to gogol bordello. Having accumulated an ipod full of samey dnb and hiphop i needed something interesting and catchy to perhaps overt my musical attention to something a bit more alternative. URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!Simply stunning, from the moment i started listening to 'Sally' i was bowled over! The originality of the instrumental mixed with the raw and unique vocals of Hutz was simply incredible. 3 months after having first listened to underdog world strike Gogol came and played moscow where i was studying at the time. To say that the hairs on the back of my neck stood up in this chic, underground cellar style venue when gogol smashed start wearing purple is an understatement to say the least. Singing along to this half brighton beach english and gypsy ukrainian russian was the point when it occurred to me-how is this band not more famous?!Have since bought super taranta which is, if anything even better in some ways, and am currently awaiting their 2006 album "Multi Kontra Culti Vs. Irony"

If you don't buy this album you wil miss out sorely, but if you do decide to buy this masterpiece then prepare to be blown away!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - favourite purchase of the year so far and there is stiff competition in that department
Well where do I start. My other half come home from work one day several months ago and said someone told him that I must listen to Gogol Bordello. We then caught some of the Glastonbury coverage on the TV a short time later - this included Gogol Bordello performing "Start Wearing Purple". I then went and purchased Underdog World Strike which arrived at work one day, I put my headphones on as I was leaving my office (on the second floor) and by the time I hit the ground floor, I had a big smile on my face. The whole album is fantastic from beginning to end and I will, no doubt, be purchasing their back catalogue before too long. I can't stop telling people about them. I never listen to a band half-heartedly and couldn't live without all of the CDs in my varied collection but every so often a band comes along that makes you sit up straight, open your eyes wide and give your full attention to and they are definitely one of those bands.

Thank you Gogol Bordello so much for making music and long may it continue.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - negresses vertes influenced
if you think this is good check out Mlah by Les Negresses Vertes. They are defo an inspiration to Gogol B, but with a North African/ Spanish influence.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Troubled Friends
I like Godspeed, but I have no idea why the reviewer has name checked them as better. They are in a completely different universe to this. Bizarre review.

This record kicks major ass and must be owned by everyone. Their achivement is amazing and well deserved as this band has put in a million times more effort than the majority of bands out there touring and entertaining the world. Accept no substitute - and if Start Wearing Purple is not the worlds most solid drinking song of all time, then I am a ...........dud....

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - The only album I have bought and thrown away
Sadly this is a first, an album recommended by so many yet so absolutely garbage that I had to throw it away. The band, when you can hear them, don't sound too bad but the singer drowns them with schlock shock verbals that do not impress and even smack of the faintly childish. Anarchic bands are not new, would easily recommend God Speed You Black Emperor above this, and as for the comparisons to the Clash and Pogues, they are so wide of the mark that I am sure that Joe Strummer is still spinning since it's release.
This is egotistical rubbish that I was too embarrassed to keep.
