- One of the top ten albums of all time!
This is an incredible album in many ways. There is not a weak track on it. Highly polished performances by all concerned but the voice, writing, phrasing and clever delivery of Miss Winehouse is outstanding. It is hard to believe this girl is still not 25 years old. The quality is such you'd think she'd been doing this for 40 years. Her debut album is a cracker too but not as accessible, maybe. However,this is just phenomenal stuff. How on earth can she follow this - I can't wait!

If you have heard Amy Winehouse's music such as 'Rehab' and 'Back to black', and you liked them then this album is excellent. There are a wide range of tracks on the album which all offer something different and original.
I was not sure at first but once you listen to the album a couple of times you will be addicted as I am now!!
Rating: - outstanding
got drawn in by 'rehab' and have been very pleasantly suprised by the range of voice and tunes in this album.
the old tamla motown sound blends perfectly with the modern honest lyrics,
and that voice... so natural sounding and yet so complex. enough of my amateur attempts at trying to explain what's so good about this album, even if this is not your usual stamping ground it's well worth a listen (or 31).

Restraint is necessary here.
This is a poor second showing from Ms Winehouse. Fundamentally, this is bad karaoke. The production provides superficial high gloss but is ultimately heavy, leaden and after repeated listening artificial. In particular, the reverb sounds overally manufactured. The result is that songs that on first hearing sound like live recordings end up sounding progressively hollow. There is little warmth.
Ms Winehouse voice remains unconvincing throughout, which makes it rather ironic that she has been so openly critically of her peers.
The greatest problem I have with this record is the way that it has been marketed. Ms Winehouse is not Dinah Washington let alone Bessie Smith. Listeners searching for genuine suffering are advised to search out Bessie's recordings, you will be rewarded.

What a talent Amy is throughout the whole of this album. You can feel the anguish and soulfulness in the songs brought about by her sad breakup with her boyfriend. An amazing voice singing some brilliantly composed songs. The feeling and depth of her voice reminds me of Nina Simone. My favourite recent album.
