- I just can't stop listening
I have had this album for about 6 months and it has never left my car's CD player. I can't understand it, I just don't get bored of listening to it. Its brilliant, it beautiful. In fact, its so good I recommend it to everyone who has a musical ear.

I recently bought this album after a few of the singles came out and it's just the most fantastic album I have ever heard, it's no wonder that this legend doesn't stop selling.
All of the tracks tell a different story each with a slightly different tone. Each song is an individual masterpiece but as always I do have few favourites, these include Back To Black, Rehab, You Know I'm No Good, Tears Dry On Their Own, He Can Only Hold Her, Addicted and Wake Up Alone.
There is a hype to this album, due to to the media obsession with Amy Winehouse but you have to look beyond the picture that they've painted of her. Winehouse is a truly talented artist and a fantastic song writer.
I'm sure this review probably doesn't interest many because you've probably all heard the album but honestly, if you're looking for a masterpiece, this is where you'll find it.
I also recommend a purchase of Winehouse's collaboration with Mark Ronson, Valerie, available on single or on his album which is also pretty good, Version. The deluxe edition also comes with a slower version of Valerie, however, I don't feel it's as good as Ronson's version.

What a voice Miss Winehouse has!! She really can sing. I love 'Back to Black' and 'Tears dry on their own' but to be fair, they are all really good tracks. I've read all the media stuff, and think that it should be ignored, and she should be judged purely on her talent, which is tremendous. She is going to be HUGE!! She appeals to all age groups with her distinctive voice and style, and I for one will buy more of her work. She has the potential to be at the top of the tree with a voice like hers.

contribute a great deal more than his animated predecessors have already achieved in describing this extraordinary album.
The will to write is born of a desire to add my own small tribute to this
troubled young woman's presence in the world - late in the day but well meant.
In other reviews I have already declared my exasperation with a market
saturated to bursting with new young female singer/songwriter/performers.
In some ways perhaps it's not been too bad a thing. After all, the boyband phenomenon might have endured !
The facebook/youtube generation are looking for saviours; for voices who
will speak to them and for them of their lives and loves, highs and lows,
gains and losses at a time in our history when a little warmth, a little
meaning would not go amiss.
In 'Back to Black' Miss Winehouse gives us something quite precious.
Songs and performances of such enduring quality that our breath is quite
taken away. With a voice poised somewhere between a fine aged bourbon
and a cat about to pounce on it's unassuming prey she produces magical
interpretations of all eleven of these superlative songs.
Her delivery, vocal flexibility, tone and phrasing are all quite extraordinary.
The dark, sometimes wryly amusing, lyrical content transforms the personal
into near-universal territory in one easy sweep.
In 'Love is a Losing Game' she pins down one of the most affecting love songs ever written !
This album is destined for classic status. Top notch production and
musicianship is deftly maintained throughout. A triumph of quality
and content over mere style.
Miss Winehouse you are indeed the real deal !

- Deliberate Vandalism?
Just played this CD for the first time today and after hearing a nasty distorted noise I assumed one of the wires had worked loose from my speakers. A quick check revealed everything was ok. I then realized the noise was a deliberate production attempt to replicate the sound of worn vinyl. Although I appreciate this can create pleasant atmospherics, doing this on a digital format and playing it back on a decent hifi produces very harsh, unpleasant digital distortion. It occurred to me that the problem might be caused by the digital upsampling on my CD player, but turning this off only helped a little. I guess the only use for this CD is the cheap and cheerful player in my car.
Amusing to think the only way to hear this without the artificial vinyl style distortion is to listen to the vinyl. Even stranger to think that this might be one CD that actually sounds better on MP3.
