I wasn't fond of her first album and couldn't stand that Take The Box, so I only listened to this on a long car journey with a friend who had it on. It was one good retro style track after another, and I had to buy it! Perhaps a lot of credit goes to the producer but she can really sing here and turns in some good lyrics as well. Shame her personal life is such a mess, I hope she sorts herself out and delivers more cd's like this.

I found the album to be so easy to listen to...you can just have it on in the background or really tune in to take it all in.

Whatever you think of Amy, you've got to admit - the girl can write a hit! When people write autobiographical songs, they often sound so wordy and insular that they just miss their mark. Not so here. Winehouse's concise writing means that the words and music conspire together to get under your skin. You might not want to, but you sing along despite yourself. Mark Ronson helped put the stamp of distinction on this alum, with the retro-Motown vibe being an inspired choice to lift the songs above the commonplace.
You know many of the songs by now; you don't need a review for that. You may not be a fan of Amy - as an Icon, she is not to everyone's taste. But you have to admire her courage to write her life so openly for all to see. And if you do decide to buy the album, take heart - you might just help Amy to buy the Rehab that she so clearly needs.

It's rare that I like more than one or two songs on any album, regardless of the artist. Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' is the exception for me. When I first heard 'Rehab' on the radio I didn't know who the artist was and pictured her to be black and in her forties so powerful and deep was the voice.
I bought Any Winehouse's 'Back to Black' album and can't stop playing it. The song, 'Back to Black' is my absolute favourite but I also love 'No Good', 'Rehab', 'Me and Mr Jones' and 'Addict' - I love them all really - there isn't one song on the album that I would take off.
The songs do contain quite a few swear words... with a bit of ingenuity and word play, alternative words can be found. This is quite useful if you have a tendency to burst into song in the supermarket and/or have children who would pounce on the original version - my personal triumph is the replacement of the original word with the use of 'trickery' on 'Me and Mr Jones'!
I've heard some of the songs that are on the 'Frank' album but they don't really compare in my opinion, they don't have the 'Sixties' influence and I just don't think they're as catchy.
I'm not surprised at the commercial success of the 'Back to Black' album, it's incredible and I can't believe that Amy Winehouse is only just 23 because of the maturity in her voice. What a talent she is as both a song writer and singer and what a coup for Britishness!
I've heard it said that Ms Winehouse is trashy, arrogant and rude... well who cares? I think it is forgiveable to be that arrogant when you're that talented - especially at 23. There are plenty of equally obnoxious 'pop stars' cluttering up the charts with only the barest smattering of anything approaching the talent of Amy.... long may she continue!

After months of listening to radio presenters raving on about Miss Winehouse, I finally succumbed and got the album. Although I admit that I find Rehab the most annoying track (hence the 4 stars) I was pleasantly surprised with the rest of it. Love Back to Black and Love is a Losing Game especially. She's a walking disaster....tatoos of a sailor, complete junkie, hair that needs a good bloody wash and pair of GHD's taking to it and in deperate need of a good feed but when this bird opens that manky mouth of hers, you have to agree....she can sing!
