Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Candy you can relish
Normally we're told not to accept candy from strangers, but in this case Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams and Kanye West are certainly not strangers to even the youngest music fan.

Following up 2005's "Confessions on a Dance Floor", the ageless icon proves that she's still got what it takes with a sweet pop/dance album infused with hip hop flavor. Bursting with possible singles, the album was launched with a sure fire hit in "4 Minutes", a collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, with a red hot video to go with it.

Other must-listen tracks are "Candy Shop" (dance); "Give It 2 Me" (pop/dance); "Miles Away" (mid-tempo - reminiscent of the "Ray of Light" album); "She's Not Me" (pop/R&B); "Beat Goes On" (R&B); "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" (a ballad with a beat); "Voices" (mid-tempo and vintage Madonna)

The nice thing about this album is that it mixes up the flavors, each song bringing something different to the listening experience. You definitely can't say that these tracks all sound the same, and that's a definite selling point for my shopping list.

It may be hot enough to melt in your hand, but this Hard Candy is going to be around the charts for a long time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fresh and undeniably catchy!!!
First of all, give this album 3 litsens before forming any judgement - it is truly a grower!!!

It is ironic that the album that has won back radio airplay in the US and looks set to be her biggest there since 'Music', is dividing fans over here. It's not really fair to say this is a hip hop album, more a retro dance album with a hip hop vibe. What works with this album though is the variety of grooves and hooks that pull you in just when you start thinking: I've heard this before!

'The beat goes on' is a wonderfully euphoric dance trip and I have to disagree with some and say I really like the Kayne West rap - kind of adds another dimension to a song that just keeps aspiring for new momentum and somehow takes you in for the ride every step of the way. 'Dance tonight is a completely charming and irresistable early 80s retro groove (reminds me a little of Galaxy's 'Dancing tight' - anyone remember that?). These two tracks are definitely the highlights for me. Though the broodingly epic 'Voices' is is powerfully affecting and contains her most playfully philosophical lyrics since Erotica's 'Secret Garden'.

For all you doubters (not haters who just write a review to slag off Madonna), GIVE THIS ALBUM ANOTHER GO, it really is a wonderfully quirky and fresh little gem!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing
I can't stop dancing! This album is fantastic- her best yet. There is no stopping her, go Madonna!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Mainstream Ahead!
I'm trying, really really hard, to like this album... Its not that its bad, infact it'll probably sell really well, however there's something not quite right.. Now it could be that the producers have been creatively bled dry by those that came before, that most of the songs on Hard Candy make you want to root out those old NERD, Furtado,Timberlake or Timbaland albums where they sound so much better.. or it could be the reaaaaally bad lyrics, or the fact that its the least Madonnaish album to date.. Maybe this is why it'll shift bucket loads? People I know who've just been meh about Madge now like her and.. well.. I guess points make prizes.

Madonna has always been mainstream but never more so and never so humdrum.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Classic Madonna!
Madonna had a lot to live up to after Confessions, but I'm pleased to say this album really cuts the mustard! Since I bought it, I can't stop playing it-which to me means it's a great Madonna album! It has a fresh sound and a very UP feel to it. Top tracks are Give it to Me (which will be a smash and hopefully her 14th UK No.1), Heartbeat-which has the feeling of a classic Abba song mixed with Pet Shop Boys, She's not Me which has some of the best lyrics of a Madonna song in quite a while, and Beat Goes On which has a great summery vibe to it.
I really hate all this digging about Madonna being nearly 50-age doesn't stop the Rolling Stones and all the other rock dinosaurs, why should it stop Madonna, especially if she is producing work as good as this.
I would have given the album 5 stars but for the inclusion of Spanish Lessons, possibly one of the most abysmal Madonna songs ever.
